What does perfection look like?
Ask three Monta Vista High School seniors — Ashutosh Jindal, Douglas Chen, and Prajit Ramachandran — who know something about perfection as they were three of only nineteen students in the world who aced the Advanced Placement Computer Science A exam which was given to 31,167 students in the spring of 2013. These three earned every point possible on their exams answering every multiple-choice question correctly and earning the maximum scores on each of the essays in the free response section of the exam.
There were approximately 4,000,000 AP exams in multiple subjects given in 2013 and only 109 students earned every point possible on an AP exam. The College Board who administers the AP exams characterized the Monta Vista trio’s accomplishment as “an extraordinary academic achievement.” MVHS computer science teacher Scott DeRuiter and MVHS principal April Scott are justifiably proud of the young men and Ms. Scott remarked that, “This is a phenomenal accomplishment and yet these students approach it with such humility. Computer science is such a passion of theirs and it is wonderful to see them honored with this recognition.”
